THE MINDS BEHIND HORSELIGHT

HorseLight Limited is owned by Torjus and Ola Baalack. The family has been involved with ponies and horses for four decades both as a hobby and on a professional level, and continue to be surrounded by horses on the family

farm in the Cotswold’s.

Dr Torjus Baalack

Torjus has competed at international level both on pony and young rider level and still rides actively.

 

He was a dentist and oral surgeon for 15 years, then spent several years as an executive in pharmaceuticals before returning to the family business.

His children compete actively at Pony Club level.

Ola Baalack

Ola has been involved in LED-Lighting for more than 10 years and was a founding member of Uni-Lightled AB, now a listed company in Sweden. Ola has also founded Uni-Lightled Ltd which as Dairy Lighting, introduced Melatonin control lights to the Dairy industry in UK in 2014, and is the market leader in this sector.

Ola has a background in large scale dairy-farming in Sweden but moved to Ballykeane House Stud in Ireland in 1989 and started and operated the Irish Trotting Centre in 2006. ITC became a hugely successful operation for preparing and training young racehorses and the horses from ITC went on to win most classical races in the world.

Ola now lives at Dartley farm in the Cotswolds where he also enjoys farming and country pursuits.

Kathy Price

Kathy has been passionate about horses all her life, ever since a New Forest pony stuck its head through the car window when she was a baby!

A horse owner for 30 years, she currently has a horse, an elderly New Forest pony and a mule, all of whom are rescues.

She has been part of the team for the last 4 years and takes care of everything in the office.

Mikael Magnusson

Mikael Magnusson was born in Sweden. He was co-founder and managing director of the TEMPUR mattress company - today the biggest mattress company in the world.

Mikael started to train racehorses in Sweden in 1980 then moved to the UK in 2000. He was granted a professional license to train in 2002 and has trained many good horses including Mutawqed, Kehar, Spring of Fame, Bridge of Gold and London Bridge - who went on to win the Breeders Cup Marathon at Santa Anita, in California.

Mikael lives in Lambourn, Berkshire where he still has a training yard and is in charge of sales to the racing industry.
